Appearance: Stray-yellow color when raw and various shades of brown when carbonized.

Characteristics: While actually classified as grass, bamboo cuts and nails like wood. The heat-treated, carbonized material is softer than the raw stock. Available in vertical, horizontal, or edge grain.
